Supported Living

Our supported living services are provided to people living in their own homes.  The service is a domiciliary service registered with CQC to provide personal care.  Most of the people we support are living in properties they rent from our organisation.  We provide an easy read tenancy agreement which helps people to understand the responsibilities of being a tenant.   Some of the people we support rent a property privately or from the council and some have purchased or inherited their own home.

Wherever a person lives our supported living services help them to manage the responsibility of having their own home.  We support people to take charge of the cleaning, cooking and shopping and we can help with managing finances.  We encourage and support people to take part in community activities and to develop relationships within their local community.  The support we provide is tailored to the needs and wishes of the individual and can range from a few hours a week up to twenty four hours daily.

The service has received a ‘good’ rating following an inspection by CQC.  You can read the full inspection report by clicking on the following link:

Our day activity services are provided at Abbey View Opportunities, which is a community based day service.  The service is located in the village of Polesworth.  The building is located in the heart of the community, close to the shops, library, church, parks, pubs and bus routes.

Abbey View operates between 8.30am – 4.30pm Mon-Fri.  Requests for services during the evenings and weekends are welcome.  The service does not operate on bank holidays.

All facilities within Abbey View are at ground level and there is disabled access.  There is a spacious communal area, kitchen, dining room, several activity/meeting rooms, toilets, changing area and a shower room.  The building is furnished and maintained to a high standard and is equipped with lifting and handling equipment.

Our aim is to engage individuals in meaningful opportunities and our approach to activities is flexible and responsive to the needs of the people we support.  We offer a regular programme of fun and rewarding activities including Tiger Feet (dance sessions), voluntary work, bowling, gym sessions, swimming, cookery, craft, drama and computer courses.  We also offer and arrange ‘one off’ activities such as day trips, coffee mornings and visits to places of interest.

The nature of this service means that registration with CQC is not required.  We do, however operate our own robust quality monitoring system and are able to demonstrate that we are achieving positive outcomes for the people we support.

Respite Care

As one of our parents says, “ When you are caring for someone with severe learning disabilities , it’s easy to become low and find that you are lacking the inner resources the task demands.  So you need to recharge your batteries.” Our respite service at Pooley Heights is designed to replace the care that a carer would normally give enabling them to take a break from their caring role.  For the individual staying at Pooley Heights it is an opportunity for a little time away from home.  Respite care is often the first step towards a more independent life and Pooley Heights enables individuals to develop their skills, have new experiences and develop friendships in a safe and supportive environment.

Pooley Heights is a bungalow set in a quiet location on the outskirts of Polesworth.  The accommodation offers six ground floor places; these are made up of one single bedroom, three en-suite single bedrooms and one double en-suite bedroom.

We aim to provide services for people with varied levels of ability.  The home is wheelchair accessible and we are able to accommodate one wheelchair user at a time.  The home is furnished and maintained to a high standard throughout.

The respite service operates 365 days a year.   We try to be as flexible as possible regarding bookings; individuals may book a single night, a weekend, a week or maybe longer.

Pooley Heights has received a ‘good’ rating following inspection by CQC.  You can read the full inspection report by clicking on the following link:
