Polesworth Group Homes is a registered charity and a not- for-profit limited company. The company has been operating since1982 and initially some of our homes were managed by North Warwickshire MENCAP Society. In 1991 members of the Society decided to form the present company to provide a more secure foundation for our work. We are fully independent of any other organisation.
We provide accommodation and support for adults with a learning disability and pride ourselves on our extensive experience. At present we support over ninety people across our range of services - residential care, supported living, respite care and daytime activities.
All of our services are based in the Polesworth, Dordon and Atherstone area of North Warwickshire. We support and encourage people who use our services to actively engage in the life of the local community. We have built strong community links and are proud of the positive impact this has for the people we support, our staff and the wider community.
Our primary aim is to enable adults with a learning disability to lead full, active and independent lives. We are committed to:
We value the significant part played by families and carers. We regularly consult family carers and service users, as well as professionals about the quality of care provided to ensure that we provide the best possible person-centred care and support in accordance with service users’ and their families/carers needs and wishes.
We employee a dedicated staff team and reward our staff for loyal service. A third of the staff team have worked for the company for more than ten years and our staff turnover levels are very low. We do not use agency or bank staff which means our service users are always supported by a consistent staff team who have a good knowledge of their needs. We provide employees with opportunities to obtain a variety of qualifications and certificates and access to a wide range of training courses. Employee training and development are crucial in maintaining the high quality of our services and in achieving our objectives.
The company is under the overall management of a Board of Directors. There are six trustees on the Board who all give their time voluntarily. Three of them, including our Chairman, are parents of people with a learning disability. The Directors regularly visit our homes and services to speak with services users and staff.
Our Chief Executive, Leigh-Anne Smith leads the activities of the charity and is supported by a team of Registered Managers and Service Managers. Leigh-Anne has over twenty years’ experience in the Adult Social Care sector.
Our Head of Finance and Company Secretary, Clare Forbes, is a chartered accountant with experience in finance, auditing and risk management.
